SEMARANG- KOTA LAMA (THE OLD CITY OF SEMARANG)
Semarang was geographically a strategic coastal town during the Dutch colonial government. Hence, it became one of The Dutch colonial administrative government center in Java Island. Today, the golden era of the former Dutch colonial government can be traced through the existence of a variety of old buildings at some parts of the city, for instance: Johar old city with a line of buildings with European architecture, some of which are the Gedangan and Blenduk Churches. Lawang Sewu building at the youth struggle monument of Tugu muda complex, etc.

 

SEMARANG – GEREJA BLENDUK.

Gereja means Church and Blenduk means hemispherical. It is called so because it has roof with a hemispherical shape .It is a Christian Church made in 1753 and then restored in 1894, there is an organ which is believed to have never changed since it was built. The church lies on Jalan Letjen Suprapto, Semarang

 

SEMARANG -  MARINA BEACH.

It is a Semarang beach recreation center which lies at PRPP complex Tawang Mas Semarang, facilitated with restaurant, Swimming Pool, etc. Visitors can enjoy boating, Skiing,  swimming, etc.

 

SEMARANG - PURI MAEROKOCO

It is presented on a man made island as the miniature of central Java. It lies at PRPP Complex Tawang Mas Semarang. There are 35 Pavilions of 35 Regencies and Municipalities of the Central Java Province. The Pavilions describe the specific architecture design building of each Regencies and Municipalities and exhibit various kind of tourist attractions of its own such as photo display, handicraft, traditional attire, specific local snack and drink, etc.

 

SEMARANG – RONGGO WARSITO MUSEUM.

This Museum lies at jalan Abdulrahman Saleh, kalibanteng. The Museum building architecture is a combination between Joglo and Modern architecture. His museum as plenty of collection such as Archeological, Historical and Culture  Features.

 

SEMARANG – NYONYA MENEER MUSEUM.

It was built on January 18, 1984 it lies as Jalan Kaligawe km 4, about 4 km from the city center of semarang.

It has collection of various tools to make herbal medicine ( Jamu ) and kinds of herbs in java, especially those which have close relationship with the company development in herbal medicine.

 

SEMARANG – JAMU JAGO MUSEUM

This museum has collection of various working tools and herbal medicine especially those with have relationship with the development of Jamu Cap Jago.

Many Student visit this museum to study and survey. The Museum lies at 273, Jalan Setyabudi Semarang.

SEMARANG – MANDALA BHAKTI MUSEUM.

The building lies at Jalan Soegiyopranoto, Semarang near Tugumuda Complex. The building used to be higher law court of European Citizens in the Dutch period.

The Museum, keeps several collections like photographs of Indonesia Heroes, war weapons from traditional pointed bamboos to imported guns used in the battle against the colonial.

 

 

SEMARANG–TEMPLE SAM PO KONG (GEDONGBATU)
It is a Chinese temple, which is actually built to honor Sam Poo Thay jin- a Chinese emissary of the Ming Dynasty who disembarked in the coast of Semarang in 1401. The local people name the temple as "Gedong Batu" which means stone building for there is a stone cave as a part of the temple.

 

KREO-CAVE
There is actually no big cave but the small one. It is situated at a small hill with steep canyon on its side. You can enjoy the natural beauty and fascinating panorama with picturesque hill, river, waterfall and terraces rice field. The hill is also dwelt by tame monkey and it seems to have been familiar with visitors.
It lies at Kandri village-Gunungpati sub-district and can be reached by public mini bus, which connects Semarang - Goa Kreo - Gunungpati.

 

DEMAK – THE GRAND MOSQUE

The building of the Mosque consists of some carved pillars which people believe to be taken from the Majapahit Kingdom. There are several old articles having historical values which are as old as the Grand Mosque it self, iner alia, big ceramic jars, wall ornaments from Campa Country, etc.

In the north of the mosque, visitors can pay a homage to the grave of the royal family members of Demak Kingdom, Namely Prince Patah, Prince Sabrang Lor, Prince Sekar Sedo Lepen,Prince Trenggono, etc.

 

BANDUNGAN MOUNTAIN RESORT & GEDONGSONGO TEMPLE

It lies at the slope of Mont Ungaran at high of 900 meters about sea level. It is a recreational and resting place which is always visited by the people for its cool air. It is facilitated with accommodations rating from moderate to luxurious hotel, conference and meeting venue.

Going up further north about 5 km from Bandungan visitor can visit Gedongsongo temple a group a nine small hindu  temples which were built around 927 AD. All nine ( Songo ) are placed on separate hills. Mist usually covers the area at dawn and dusk. Visitors can enjoy riding on horse back around the hilly area. There are three routes to reach Bandungan, from Ambarawa which about  7 kilometres away, a by pass road is also available  from Ungaran and from the town of Temanggung via Sumowono sub district about 30 kilometres.

 

AMBARAWA – RAILWAY MUSEUM

The museum offers twenty different kinds of ancient locomotives originally built by factories in Nederland, England, Germany and Switzerland. The museum is actually the old railway station of Ambarawa, from this station, around trip journey with steam locomotive which run on serrated railway can be chartered upon request for visitor group.

During the trip, visitor can enjoy a magnificent view of the surrounding nature and village dwellings.

Not far from the site, visitor can also visit Palagan Ambarawa Monument, in which old weapon formly used during the war against the colonial Rulers are kept.

 

 

KUDUS – KRETEK MUSEUM

It is first tourist attraction before entering the town from Demak situated at Getas Pejaten Village or about 3 kilometers away from the town center .The museum displays the different types of cigarettes wrappers, diaroma display of people working from the drying of tobacco leaves to hand making cigarettes. There is a small traditional house in the museum complex, fully carved, inside and outside. It also has wooden partitions, panels, beams, doors , all beautifully carved, in floral patterns.

 

KUDUS – MINARET OF THE MOSQUE.

It is ancient Mosque of Kudus which was built by Sunan Kudus in the 16 century. Sunan Kudus was one of the first nine Moslem preachers in Java who were famous for their merits in spreading the Moslem faith in the northern part of Central Java.

The interesting thing when you visit the Kudus Mosque is its Minaret. The form of the building is unique, architecturally, it is blend of the java – hindu and Islamic culture.

 

JEPARA – WEAVING TEXTILE & WOOD CARVING

The textile produces hand woven cloth from Sarongs to material for upholstery, bed covers, wall hanging and garments as well. The Lurik Troso is produced in ambudance at Troso Village – Pecangakan Sub district about 14 kilometers from kudus prior to arrive at Jepara town.

While the centre of wood carving can be found in tahunan Village which lies at Suburban area on the road to jepara from Kudus. Both sides of the road are filled with unfinished piece of furniture, etc, heaped one on top of the other.You can find the wood carving as well at shops along, jalan Pemuda, Jepara.

 

JEPARA – BEACHES.

When you happen to be in Jepara town, there are several beaches you can visit, for instance, kartini beach is located only about 2 kilometers from the town centre. The other is the Tirto Samodra or Bandengan Beach, a white sandy beach at a distance of 8 kilometers from Jepara.

During the Dutch Colonial Rule, it was known as Klien Sche – Veningen Van java.

 

WONOSOBO - DIENG PLATEAU

Dieng Plateau lies right across at the border between Wonosobo regency and Banjarnegara Regency. Banjarnegara Regency occupies the largest part of the plateau, yet the easier access to reach the plateau is from Wonosobo town. This is the largest high land in java that lies at 2,093 metre above sea level with the average temperature of 15 degree celcius.

Its only one hour’s drive from Wonosobo to reach here at a distance of 26 kilometers .many public vehicles are available at Wonosobo to go to Dieng Plateau. In the plateau you can visit various kinds of tourist attractions such as group of Pandawa, Hindu temple, lakes, active craters, the well of Serayu River, cave, etc. Hotels are available there for over night stay.

 

 

TAWANGMANGU MOUNTAIN RESORT

Here, you can enjoy and impressive waterfall( The Grojogan Sewu ) or riding on a horse back through the rain forest hills inhabited by wild monkey, children play ground and swimming pool are also available there. There are many hotels and restaurants for your accommodation and a camping site is provided for youngsters.

 

THE MERAPI – MERBABU SLOPES

When you visit to Boyolali, You may take the opportunity to go through the by pass of Boyolali – Selo – Magelang vv and here you can enjoy the beautiful of Merapi – Merbabu Slopes and watch the peak of Mount Merapi from the Volcano observation office .
